Richard has taught singing for 20 years to a wide range of individuals ranging from amateurs to known voice professionals in the West End and on UK TV, in all styles.  He has held singing posts at The Webber Douglas Academy of Drama and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

John Hopkins, actor
“Richard brought out from me a voice I never knew I had. With humour, passion and forensic detail he moulded me from a guy who squeaked when he went too high, into a creditable bass baritone.  And what he taught me about my voice continues to have applications in my acting as well.  His lessons were some of the most practical, enjoyable and rewarding of my time at RADA. I have no hesitation in recommending him!”
Daniel Mays, actor
“I had the pleasure and privilege to be taught by Richard for three years at RADA. An unforgettable experience! His teaching techniques and ability to draw the very best out of you as a singer is second to none. I learned so much from him in terms of the mechanics of singing and slowly and surely, as my confidence grew, we applied everything to unlock the drama within the performance. I always found his classes engaging, inspirational and most importantly fun! A truly wonderful teacher.”

 Jill McCullough, dialect coach

“I have always been astounded by the dramatic results that Richard’s students gain – the progress they make is phenomenal. I regularly, and highly, recommend him.”
West End performer
“I was struggling with a very demanding role in the West End, and was vocally exhausted. Richard nursed me through the performances, restored my confidence, and re-built my technique to cope on my own.”
Doctor TG
“I have been learning from Richard for some time now. I have gained a vast amount of confidence in my singing and sight – reading, and am now enjoying performing in a London Choral Society – which I never before believed would be possible.”
